HINDLEY GREEN Community Update – Westlake “Clayhole” Area New Section 59 signs have been erected around the Clayhole in Hindley Green. These signs give GMP officers additional powers to seize off-road vehicles being used illegally or anti-socially in the area. This is part of our ongoing efforts to tackle nuisance off-roading and protect our community spaces.
We have been working closely with partner agencies such as Wigan Council and local community groups.
Unfortunately, we’ve also seen a rise in reports of both littering and youths throwing stones at swans. Behaviour that is not only unacceptable but also harmful to local wildlife. There has also been reports of unintentional harm to wildlife from discarded fishing lines.
In addition, we’ve received increased reports of drug dealing in the vicinity.
In response to these issues, GMP will be stepping up patrols around the Clayhole and surrounding areas. We’re committed to keeping Hindley Green safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone. This will be staffed by officers from the neighbourhood team assigned to the Hindley/Hindley Green area and will not effect GMPs response to emergency calls.
If you see any suspicious activity or anti-social behaviour, please report it via 101 or online at www.gmp.police.uk. In an emergency, always call 999. You can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
