Rural Affairs - Theft of farm machinery, agricultural vehicles/plant/tools |
||
Tuesday 24th September is Operation Ragwort across the South West Policing Region, an operation targeting those involved in rural crime. It’s also national Employer Supported Policing Day, a scheme where employers give their staff time from their jobs to help policing local communities. In return the employers get the benefits of additional training from the police that the officers take-back to their regular workplace. Pictured are Special Constable Kevin PEARCE and Special Sergeant Mark BEVAN, both based at Cullompton.
Mark is a Civil Servant and Kevin is a local Firefighter, both of whom bring skills from their regular job into policing and policing skills into their ordinary jobs.
During the operation both officers were part of a larger team stopping vehicles in Mid Devon and engaging with the public to promote crime prevention initiatives and checking vehicles for stolen property, impaired drivers and vehicles used in crime.
