||
Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a reported fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police received a report at 11.38am on Monday 22 September 2025 of a collision involving a white BMW 118i Sport and a pedestrian in Holdenhurst Road.
Officers attended, the road was temporarily closed, and a police cordon was put in place to allow both emergency services to deal safely with the incident and for further investigative work to be carried out.
The pedestrian – an eight-year-old boy – was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment to life-changing injuries.
The driver of the BMW reportedly failed to stop at the scene.
Following enquiries, the vehicle was located and recovered, and a 36-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman – both from Reading in Berkshire – were arrested on suspicion of driving offences. They have been released on police bail as enquiries are ongoing.
Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are continuing to investigate this collision, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.
“I would also urge anyone with dashcam who was driving in the vicinity, as well as any local residents or businesses with home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras, to please check their recorded footage to see if they have captured anything that may assist our enquiries.”
