Crime Prevention Workshop |
||
Dear Resident
A police crime prevention workshop was held in the Marlowe’s shopping centre #HemelHempstead last week. The aim was to promote the support that is available to town centre businesses, retailers and the public under the Safer Town Centre initiative. Attendees of the event included Local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) officers, hot spot policing lead PC Tassel, Cybercrime and Crime Prevention Officers, Daniel Mcmanus from the community engagement team, members of Dacorum Borough Council and the Business Improvement District (BID). Advice was given from subject matter experts at the workshop. Officers, along with BID members, visited businesses in the town centre to give crime prevention advice and support. High visibility patrols were conducted under the Hot Spot Policing scheme. The initiative was launched in May 2024, after Government funding was secured through a bid by the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office. The funding is providing additional foot patrols and increased visibility, on top of normal daily business, targeting specific areas which have been identified as crime and anti-social behaviour hotspots through an analysis of police data. The below is Hemel Hempstead Hot Spot data from the 1 April this year: • Patrols - 133 additional foot patrols in the town centre and Old Town since April totalling 1024 hours of additional high visibility patrols • Anti-social behaviour powers have been used 30 times • Arrests - 5 • Stop Searches - 7 • Knives seized - 4 knives removed from the streets #SaferTownCentres #DacorumPolice | ||
