Successful Plain Clothes Operation at Greggs Store Leads to Arrest On the morning of 22 September, officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) carried out a plain clothes operation at a Greggs store, led by PC Kiara Hamis. The deployment was part of ongoing efforts to tackle persistent shoplifting and anti-social behaviour affecting local businesses. During the operation, one male was arrested in connection with thirty-seven separate allegations of theft. He remains in custody, and officers will be seeking a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) upon charge to help prevent further offending. In addition, two individuals were issued with community resolution notices following engagement with officers during the deployment. Store staff expressed their appreciation for the police presence and the swift action taken. Plans are now underway to replicate similar operations at other retail locations to support businesses and reduce offending. This operation demonstrates the value of partnership working and targeted enforcement in addressing community concerns and supporting local retailers.
