Weekly Crime Updates - Dorridge & Hockley Heath

Firstly I would like to apologise that no WMNow weekly updates have been sent since the end of August! I have been on Annual Leave, but will update you all on the crime that has been happening over the month in this post…..

Local crime

Below is a snapshot of the vehicle crime and burglaries that have been recorded in the Dorridge & Hockley Heath area between the 21st August 2025 & 22nd September 2025.

Burglaries:

Residential burglary of a home – WIDNEY ROAD, BENTLEY HEATH - Unknown offenders forced open/ripped off the garage door to enter home. Tidy search conducted and a motorbike was taken. Offenders made good their escape via unknown direction.

Burglary of business & community – Sainsburys Superstore, DORRIDGE – Unknown offender has entered the store and selected a basket of groceries and gained entry to the warehouse and taken a bottle of wine. Unknown offender made good their escape through fire exit in unknown direction. Approx value £20.00.

Vehicle crime:

Theft FROM motor vehicle – SPRING LANE, HOCKLEY HEATH – Unknown offender has approached locked, secured vehicle and removed the front number plate. Offenders made goo their escape in unknown direction.

Theft FROM motor vehicle – SPRING LANE, HOCKLEY HEATH – Unknown offender has approach locked, secure vehicle and screwed off the back-number plate. Offenders made good their escape in unknown direction.

Theft FROM motor vehicle – STRATFORD ROAD, HOCKLEY HEATH - Vehicle was parked and secured when unknown offender(s) have gained entry via the side door. The van is secured with an extra lock above the factory lock. The offender(s) have cut through the outer metal plate to gain access to the locking mechanism then forced the lock open, breaking it. Once inside the van the offenders have grabbed bags and boxes of tools to an approx value of £10,000.

Theft OF motor vehicle – POPLAR ROAD, DORRIDGE – Vehicle was parked on driveway, unknown offenders have gained access to vehicle by unknown means and made good their escape with vehicle.

Theft FROM motor vehicle – WIDNEY LANE. BENTLEY HEATH – Unknown offenders have approach locked, secure vehicle and have removed the rear registration plate. Offenders have made good their escape in unknown direction.

Theft OF motor vehicle – STATION APPROACH, DORRIDGE – Offenders have gained access to parked, locked and secure vehicle by unknown means. Offenders have made good their escape in u/k direction.

Crime prevention advice

- Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. Installing an immobiliser and covert tracking device will also increase the chance of getting your vehicle back should it be stolen.

- Please don’t leave valuable items on show inside your vehicle. Even loose change can be appealing to vehicle offenders.

- Consider installing anti-snap locks to all external windows and doors on your home. This will make it more difficult for potential burglars to gain access to your home. Installing a monitored burglar alarm is also a great deterrent. Try to make the front and rear of your property as well-lit as possible by installing motion activated lighting.

- CCTV is a great deterrent for offenders. This can also be crucial in linking criminals to multiple crimes.

- Consider purchasing anti-tamper number plate screws to secure your vehicle registration to your vehicle. Bare in mind that if you have a personalised plate, anti-tamper screws will make it very difficult to remove the plate if needed.

Local news

- A speed watch took place in Hockley Heath on School road and 37 Vehicles were caught exceeding the speed limit in the hour.

- A speed watch took place on Earlswood Road in Dorridge and 8 Vehicles were caught exceeding the speed limit in the hour.

CCTV REGISTRY

We need more people to register their home or business CCTV and doorbell cameras to help solve crime by providing footage when alerted.

How it works in three steps:

2. You will receive a text or email when a crime happens near your home or business and our officers believe your CCTV may have recorded the incident

3. Upload the images via the secure link contained in the message

Friday 26th Septmber – 3:30 – 4:30 - Beat Surgery at Bentley Heath Community Centre, Bentley Heath. This is an opportunity for local residents to pop along and chat with your local PCSO’s/ Police Officers about the crime that is happening in the area. Its also an opportunity for you to discuss any worries/ concerns you have about the village.

-Thursday 2nd October - 11am – 12:30pm – Beat Surgery at King George Memorial Hall, Hockley Heath. This is an opportunity for local residents to pop along and chat with your local PCSO’s/ Police Officers about the crime that is happening in the area. Its also an opportunity for you to discuss any worries/ concerns you have about the village.
