Hello Resident
Chelmsley Wood Newsletter, 21st Sept 2025
Well this last week has flown by, our Officers haven’t stopped. Three of us were supporting the Emergency Services Show at the NEC with Project Servator deployments over two days. I think the service animals stole the show for me. It was also great to speak to so many Police Cadets from all over the Country. I think they had a task to engage with as many Police Forces as possible, I was very happy to answer their many questions as their enthusiasm was infectious. They are the future of Policing.
Officers responded to an incident on Yorkminster Drive, where a female received a slash wound to her face on Saturday 20th September. The offender has since been arrested and is currently assisting with our enquiries.
We have been working hard helping to protect victims of Domestic Abuse by making regular contact and visits to those who have DVPO’s, Domestic Violence Protection Orders. On one visit this week the male who has the order against him was located at the address and arrested.
This week so many of our Streetwatch Volunteers turned out for a patrol on Friday evening that we had to split into two groups. That’s great news for our residents as double the number of streets got covered. If you fancy joining a Streetwatch Group contact streetwatch@westmidlands.police.uk and make a difference in your area.
Crime Updates We will have faraday pouches with us at the Residents Hub on Saturday 27th September. These pouches prevent the signal between keys and vehicles from being copied and relayed to gain access. Pop along and talk about vehicle crime prevention with us.
Dates for your diary Chelmsley Wood Parish Residents Hub on Saturday 27th September at the Onward Club, Helmswood Drive B37 7NS between 10:00x12:00hrs. This meeting is attended by many agencies that support residents in our area, including Councillors, Age UK and your local Neighbourhood Policing Team. At this meeting I will have anti-theft screws for your number plates with me. If I’m not on the car park pop into the hall for me. Cuppa with a Coppa – Monday 29th September at Three Trees, Hedingham Grove B37 7TP 18:00x19:30hrs. A chance to tell us your community concerns and pick up some crime prevention goodies.
News from the Town Centre DNO’s Officers have been extremely busy this week patrolling the town centre. We have continued to maintain a high-visibility presence across the town centre, carrying out regular patrols and engaging with members of the public. These patrols have not only reassured residents but have also provided us with many positive opportunities to catch up with the community and listen to their concerns around the town centre and ASB and shoplifting which is an issue we are continuing to tackle. While the majority of the interactions have been positive, we have responded to a small number of incidents involving anti-social behaviour in the town centre, to which we have been quick to respond and further educate the youths on the PSPO in place. There is now signage on the lamppost on the interchange so everyone in the local area can be educated on the PSPO. Over the last two weeks officers have been working hard to catch a prolific shoplifter who was wanted. We can confirm after all the hard work of tracking him down we have caught the wanted male and justice will be served towards him.
Until next time Stay safe & well PCSO Vicki | ||
