St Matthew's team up date |
||
Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, part of Walsall’s Local Policing Area (LPA). Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of some of the activities that we have done recently.
Some things that we have been doing on our patch recently:
The team have conducted a Speedwatch operation on Princess Avenue. Over the period of the operation 7 vehicles were stopped and dealt with, and 16 speeding offences were also recorded. Appropriate action has been taken against the offending drivers. Caldmore Streetwatch group, and Rushall Hall Streetwatch group met with their designated PCSO from the St Matthew’s team. The PCSO and the community volunteers patrolled the local area. Streetwatch members are all volunteers who are doing their bit for the community that they live in. The patrols are managed and co-ordinated by the group themselves and don’t always involve a PCSO. These particular patrols went well, a few issues were identified and these will be dealt with appropriately and there were positive engagements with residents from the area. Our DNO recently visited a national charity, which support women and children with housing, pregnancy support and parenting, as part of an open day that they were having at a venue in Walsall. A good start with community networking and the building up positive community engagements with this hard to reach group. Future visits will be made. Arrests have been made by PC’s across all three teams. With offences ranging from a breach of a criminal behaviour order to various shop thefts.
Going forward: PCSO’s will be starting a new Streetwatch group for Walsall Town Centre in conjunction with students from Walsall College. We are committed to continue meeting with the various communities in St Matthew’s as part of proactive working. We know there are a lot of different community groups within St Matthew’s, if you know of any, who you think would like a visit or chat, please get in touch, it’ll be great to see and hear from you.
