Multiple stolen vehicles recovered by Coventry neighbourhood officers |
||
Hi Resident, This week Wainbody officers worked with local Councillors and residents to complete a Community Speed watch operation. Around 40 vehicles were found to be over the speed limit on Cannon Hill Road and Cannon Park Road. Following suit, the Holbrook and Radford team conducted a traffic survey on Hollyfast Lane and then did a speed watch with a local Councillor where four vehicles were found speeding. All those speeding will be expecting a warning letter in the post, or a fine if this is their second offence. In addition, Stoke and Wyken officers have been patrolling around Warwickshire Retail Park, offering crime prevention advice and giving out various security materials, including signal-blocking pouches for car keys. Binley and Willenhall officers were out spotting for antisocial behaviour in the Seven Stars Industrial Estate and around Asda and McDonalds on London Road. City centre police also patrolled Trentham Road and Freehold Street after concerns were raised about safety in our recent community meetings. Foleshill officers took time to visit Broad Street Library to meet local school children and let them try on police uniforms. Talking to our young residents about policing roles, how we tackle crime, and telling them how to report concerns is a huge part of our crime prevention duties. In the North West of the city, officers located two vehicles discovered to be stolen and have been recovered pending further investigation to find the owners. In the St Michael’s area, PCSO Parker found a stolen vehicle in a retail car park. The vehicle has now been recovered and will be reunited with the relived owner. A few days later, the city centre team responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle. After further checks, the vehicle was found to have no road tax since April so was seized. Hot on the tail of thieves, Response officers stopped a vehicle suspected to have cloned plates. It was later discovered that the vehicle was stolen from the city centre and will now be sent to forensics for further examination. The Coventry football unit received a generous donation of a defibrillator from the OurJay Foundation and Coventry City Rugby Supporters Group. This piece of kit will now be with officers at all Coventry City FC games from now on. This week we welcomed back our Coventry Police Cadets with a drugs awareness talk from our Hillfields neighbourhood team. The Cadets learnt about the law, how the police prevent antisocial behaviour, and what services are available to Coventry residents. Gaining more knowledge on these topics will help our Cadets spread the word to local residents when they attend community events or go out on patrol with our officers. | ||
