Self balancing scooters aka Hoverboards

Dear Members,

A brief message to highlight an issue brought to the attention of your local Neighbourhood Policing Team. 

Mickleton residents have sent us video clips of Hoverboards being used on roads in Mickleton. Just in case you aren't aware, these are two wheeled devices with a balancing board. They have an electric motor in them and are propelled backwards and forwards by the rider altering their balance on the board. 

The fact that they have an electric motor in them means that they can be classed as a motor vehicles and must not be used on public roads.

If you or a family member own one of these machines then that's fine but please don't use it on the highway. If found to be being used (persistently) by the Police in these circumstances it will be seized ad you could be fined.
