Wandsworth Safe Haven |
||
Hello Ward Member,
As part of the Council’s commitment to ensuring that Wandsworth is a safe borough for everyone, the Community Safety Service has been working with local businesses to establish Safe Havens across the borough.
Safe Havens provide places of safety for anyone who needs it. The Safe Havens initiative was established by the Safer Business Network and Safe Haven venues can be found across London and surrounding areas.
Members of the public can access a Safe Haven if they are feeling intimidated, being harassed, feeling unwell or are just in need of some help. Safe Havens can help if someone has had their phone stolen, is intoxicated or had their drink spiked, and anyone in need of general assistance.
This scheme is available for anyone who needs it, but links closely to our wider Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) work. If you or someone you know has experienced abuse or violence, confidential, free support services are available.
Staff can provide support by offering: To call a friend or trusted person A drink of water Use of the venue’s phone or internet Phone charging facilities Details of support services Help with calling a taxi or advise on safe onward travel Call emergency services, if necessary, e.g. if someone is injured or if a crime has been committed
We have partnered with WalkSafe+ who aim to inform and empower people while out and about. Wandsworth Safe Havens are visible on the WalkSafe+ app, which also offers features including journey sharing, automatic notifications if users don’t arrive home on time, and an SOS button should they feel unsafe. Download the WalkSafe+ app to find Safe Haven venues in Wandsworth: Apple App Store / Google Play Store
Look out for the Safe Haven logo in venue windows, on notice boards, on the WalkSafe+ app or on the Council website:
A full list of Wandsworth Safe Haven venues can also be located on the Safe Havens page of the Council website, as well as further information about the scheme. If you are a local business owner, you can also find out how to sign up and join the scheme.
Kind regards,
PCSO Warrell | ||
