Burglar who took car, cash and perfume jailed |

A burglar who broke into a home and took a car, cash and perfume has been jailed.
Geraldine Grocott, 39, of no fixed address, has been sentenced to two-years-and-ten-months behind bars at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (12 September) after she admitted burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.
It happened on 13 July this year when Grocott went into a house near Camp Road, Stoke-on-Trent. She took the keys to a Toyota that was parked outside, worth an estimated £12,000, women’s perfume and an estimated £40 in cash. Using the keys, she got in the car and drove it away. The victim didn’t realise he had been burgled until he woke up that morning and noticed his car was gone.
After carrying out an investigation, we linked Grocott to the burglary through forensic matches at the scene where she managed to get inside the house. She was arrested and charged with the offences before pleading guilty in court.
The sentencing comes as part of our ongoing proactive commitment to tackling burglary across Staffordshire, which has reduced by 27 per cent in the last 12 months (August 2024 to August 2025) compared to the year before.
We’re determined to keep working hard, night and day, to go after those responsible for this type of crime in local communities. | ||
