Theft of Motor Vehicles at retail carparks

Dear Residents,

We've recently seen an increase in unattended vehicles being stolen from car parks in the area. 

We would urge you all to consider using additional security measures, such as steering wheel locks, pedal locks, and third party immobilisers, even when you are leaving your vehicle for a short period, for example nipping in the shops for a bottle of milk.

While it may be considered slightly inconvenient to do this, I'm sure it is better than the alternative of coming out of the shops to find your vehicle is not where you left it. Thieves are able to steal some unattended vehicles in under two minutes.

Officers from the GMPs, Initial Investigation Unit and Neighbourhood Policing teams are continuing to pursue a tenacious investigation into the existing reports and efforts to identify the offenders continue. You may notice additional officers in the area patrolling carparks. We urge everyone to report suspicious activity immediately on 999 to allow a prompt response.
