Weekly update

Hello Resident, I hope you are well.

We would like to update you on what we have been doing in the Bartley Green area this week:

. Officers have got in contact with St Peters Catholic School to try and start up a Junior PCSO scheme what would look to build community engagement with officers and the school with the local Bartley green community.

. we have been able to work with local authorities in dealing with local community issues such as ASB issues, and the rising issues of Nitrous Oxide canisters being found lying around in the area. We have already taken six away from King Edwards VI school and have taken them to Bournville station for them to be destroyed.

In the past week, we have received three reports of a theft of a motor vehicle in the area. We advise you to make sure that you have the necessary measures to keep your vehicle secure and safe. We advise you to install security measures such as a disk lock for your vehicles steering wheel. A gear stick lock to make sure no one can change gear’s if suspects was to get in your vehicle. We also advise to install pull up metal pillars on top of your drive to trap your vehicle in, that is only if you park your car on your homes drive. These measures help to keep your vehicle safe as all the security measures will help deter anyone from trying to steal your vehicle.

We have had one report of homes being broken into in the area. We advise you to take the necessary measures to keep your home safe and secure. You can do this by locking your doors and windows to help keep the property secure. You can also install Anti-snap locks what will help make your doors leading into the home more secure and less likely to be broken into. We also advise you to purchase and install CCTV cameras as this can help deter people from trying to gain entry into your property. It also helps be able to get a clear picture of the individual if they did try to gain entry to your home making it easier for officers to identify the suspect.

We still encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us solve crimes by providing us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This not only helps us solves crimes, but it also helps to keep your community safer.

This helps officers be able to get in contact with you if they believe your CCTV camera has potential digital footage of a crime being committed, as they can see the local area where has crime has took place, and see your CCTV camera present in that area. This will help officers in dealing with crimes more quickly and swiftly, what will then allow them to do more jobs, helping to make the community a safer place.

We are still experiencing an increase of demand from across the area over the last few weeks, with more people calling and asking for help. Our staff are working extremely hard to answer and respond to your calls and live chats. But due to the high demand it can cause callers to have to wait longer than they should, what if something neither of us want at all. We prioritize your enquires/calls based on how urgent they are, but we always appreciate that you want help as soon as possible.
