pedal cycle theft crime prevention read |
||
Dear residents/students:
With the new school/university year starting we would like to share a quick 1 minute read with regards to pedal cycle theft prevention. Can we please ask if you can read and take in to consideration the following:
How to Lock Your Bike Use two quality locks, with at least one being a D-lock, for increased security. Secure the bike's frame and both wheels to a secure, fixed cycle stand. Position the bike as close to the stand as possible to limit a thief's ability to work. Avoid poorly lit or isolated areas, and don't lock your bike to open-ended structures like signposts, as thieves can simply lift it over.
Deterrent Measures Mark your frame with your postcode and register it with a police-approved database like BikeRegister. This deters thieves and makes your bike easier to recover if stolen. Don't leave your bike in the same spot regularly, as this makes it a predictable target for theft. Secure your bike in a locked shed or garage, as many bikes are stolen from home
Never leave you bike unlocked even if you are popping into the shop for a quick item.
Thank for taking the time to read this quick bulletin Coventry neighbourhood team | ||
