Please be aware that the UK Met Office has issued a weather alert for Rochdale and surrounding areas, with heavy showers and thunderstorms expected to develop from Friday through Sunday evening.

Intense rainfall, with up to 30mm in an hour and 60mm over 6 hours in some areas

Potential for frequent lightning, strong winds, and hail

Risk of localised flooding, travel disruption, and power outages

🚗 Safety Advice:

Avoid driving through flooded roads—just 30cm of water can float a car

Secure outdoor items that could be damaged or become hazardous in strong winds

Stay indoors during lightning storms and unplug sensitive electronics

Check on vulnerable neighbours, especially the elderly or those with mobility issues
