Two Week Update |
||||||||
Good Evening Resident,
It's been a bit of a strange couple of weeks since my last update, I've had some time off for personal reasons but I'm now back and ready to get to it, keeping you all up to date with the goings on in Wolverhampton City Centre. I'm going to break this down into two separate sections and i'll date them as necessary to help keep it simple and clear. First off we will start with the week between the dates of 01/09/2025 and 06/09/2025.
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Team 2 started off the week with carrying out arrest attempts in Wolverhampton in the DA Car, these attempts resulted in 1 arrest being made. Further to this another twelve arrests were made throughout the week for various offences such as, Rape, Failing to Appear at court, Breach of a Harassment order, Public Order, Theft from Shops/Stalls and Theft from Person. Police Sergeant Barton had a close call this week whilst trying to stop 3 suspects in a theft from shop, which led to the recovery of stolen goods but unfortunately PS Barton was subsequently threatened with violence and the suspects managed to get their car keys back before making good their escape.
Community Engagement – PCSO Whalley was at Costa Coffee this week to host a Cuppa with a Copper session, in which she had a decent turnout and she is looking forward to the next one.
Guardian Patrols – General foot patrols this week as well as our usual Violent Crime and ASB Guardian Patrols. Other than a few Stop/Searches carried out by officers there is nothing further to report from these patrols. It seems to have gotten a little quieter since school started again.
Night-Time Economy – Our NTE patrols were very uneventful this week, general patrols and pub walkthroughs carried out. Officers were on hand throughout the whole weekend to make sure members of the public had a safe night out with no problems.
Thats it for week one, now we can turn our attention to the week commencing the 11th until today.
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Ten arrests in total were made this week for offences such as, Theft, Drunk and Disorderly, Assault and Possession of Offensive Weapons, and with the help of British Transport Police Officers an arrest was made for Drunk in Charge of a Child. The most notable arrest this week was for Burglary were a prolific shoplifter in the City Centre had decided to break into a Take Away shop and attempt make off with the cash register containing about £1500 in cash. Unfortunately for the offender, the Store manager was on site who quickly realised what was happening and detained the Offender until Police arrived moments later.
Community Protection – One community protection warning issued this week to an individual who has been causing a local business issues due to behaviour displayed whilst under the influence of alcohol. Community Engagement – One of our designated neighbourhood officers, PC Langford, attended the unveiling of the new Candle statue this week in St Peters Gardens. The statue has been put in place on top of the old tree that was damaged in a storm earlier this year. The Annual Recovery walk took place this week on the 13th through the City Centre. Attended by more than 300 people from all backgrounds with officers in attendance to make sure everything ran smoothly. Walking side by side with friends, families, and communities — including the incredible people who access our services and those of our partner agencies — was a beautiful reminder of the strength and resilience that connects us all. PCSO Wykes hosted a crime prevention stand within the Glaze Cafe in Wolverhampton Art Gallery on Saturday, promoting World Alzheimer's month. I was quite shocked to see a total of 15 people turn up with many of you staying for the full two hours for a lovely chat, feedback in general was fantastic and i hope you all went away feeling that you know more about what West Midlands Police in Wolverhampton are doing to tackle issues near you. Guardian Patrols – Guardian Patrols this week consisted of patrolling around the University, St Peters Gardens and that general area due to students starting to return to Uni.
Night-Time Economy – Busy night this week dealing with multiple reports of Fighting and Disorder throughout the city centre on this weeks NTE. Thankfully everything was calmed down and dispersed with no arrests made or offences reported.
What to Watch – As many people enjoy our Cuppa with a Copper meetings but are unable to make it due to working commitments, I can confirm that our next scheduled meeting on Wednesday 24th September will be between the hours of 4.30pm and 6.30pm. This will hopefully allow more of our community members to come out and have a chat with us.
Upcoming Events (All future events will be announced with a WMNow post) 24/09/2025 – CUPPA WITH A COPPER, CENTRAL LIBRARY. 29/10/2025 - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT STAND, WULFRUN CENTRE.
