Walsall Police operation to keep your roads safe |
||
Dear Resident,
We have been working with our partners to take action against drivers flouting the law as we carried out a Multi-Agency Road Safety Operation (MARSO) in Walsall.
These operations are led by our dedicated Road Harm Prevention Team within the Roads Policing Unit and bring together a wide range of partners who all share the same goal – keeping our region’s roads safe.
WATCH: the MARSO operation in action
The team carried out a MARSO at Sainsbury’s, situated on Reedswood Way, on Wednesday (10 September ) from 10am until the early afternoon.
Neighbourhood officers from our Blakenall and Willenhall teams joined special constables for the operation. Our partners on the day included representatives from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and enforcement officers from Walsall Council.
During the operation we made three arrests, two men were arrested for immigration issues and a third for possession of a knife.
In total 34 vehicles were stopped with 27 traffic offences reported.
These included nine motorists reported for illegal tints and a further four for having dangerous tints. There were seven people who face prosecution for dangerous loads and four for number plate offences.
Six vehicles were handed prohibition notices by the DVSA for defect and weight offences. Six taxis were inspected and four were reported to the DVLA for illegal number plates. During the operation our officers also offered advice to motorists on how to stay within the law. Officers also carried out patrols around Sainsbury’s to offer reassurance as we look to combat business crime and shop thefts and issues surrounding anti-social behaviour.
