Penn and Merry Hill residents,
Welcome to your latest WM Now community crime update, covering incidents reported from 3 September to 11 September 2025.
Merry Hill – Crime Summary
Period: 03/09/2025 – 11/09/2025
Theft from Motor Vehicle: 3 incidents
1. Broad Lane – Between 05/09, 23:45 and 06/09, 11:00, a red Skoda Fabia had both front and rear number plates stolen.
2. Langley Road – Between 07/09, 06:00–07:00, the front and rear plates of a red Mazda were removed.
3. Wychbury Road – Between 06/09, 18:30 and 07/09, 09:00, offenders forced the passenger-side window of a silver Transit van and stole three boxes of copper worth approximately £200.
Penn – Crime Summary
Period: 03/09/2025 – 11/09/2025**
Theft from Motor Vehicle: 1 incident
26 Reedham Gardens – Between 07/09, 01:00–18:00, the front and rear gel plates were stolen from a white VW Polo GTI.
Theft of Motor Vehicle: 1 incident
63 Leighton Road – Between 07/09, 01:15–01:45, two male offenders were captured on CCTV using what appeared to be a device to unlock a white VW Golf. They entered the vehicle and drove away.
Police Response
All of these incidents are actively being investigated. Your local policing team is carrying out house-to-house enquiries and has increased high-visibility patrols in the affected areas to reassure residents and deter further crime.
Safety Reminders
Fit number plate security screws to help deter thieves – these are inexpensive and widely available.
Remove valuables from vehicles and ensure windows and doors are fully secured.
Consider installing CCTV or doorbell cameras to deter and help identify offenders.
Report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency.
