Wildlife crime arrest |
||
At 2140hrs last night, Wed 10th Sept, a 999 call was received from a farm on Wheaton Aston Road, Longnor. The report was that poachers were on their fields and rifle shots had been heard. The last sighting of the vehicle was towards Wenlock Bank. At 2223hrs, officers have come across a Mercedes 4x4 in Blymhill. The vehicle was in a field gateway and made off from police. The vehicle was stopped in Hatch Lane, Weston Under Lizard and the male driver arrested. The vehicle and a lurcher dog were seized, after the vehicle was searched and poaching/lamping equipment found. The dog was found wandering in lanes nearby, having been dumped out of the vehicle. The dog was being cared for by police before being collected to be taken elsewhere. Please ALWAYS report poachers to police on 999 as it is a crime in progress and it gives officers a much better chance to catch offenders in the act.
Many thanks,
