Theft of vehicles across Devon and Cornwall

Crime Prevention and Vehicle Thefts:

For several months now there has been ongoing series of high value vehicle thefts regarding persons targeting addresses particularly where high performance vehicles are kept. This is happening forcewide across Devon and Cornwall. Persons are tending to target addresses and try door handles where premises have sometimes been left insecure and entry is then gained and keys taken. On one occasion recently multiple vehicles from one address were stolen but later recovered. If you are the owner of a high value/performance vehicle it would be worth ensuring you have some kind of tracker device fitted to your vehicle. Please ensure that all windows and doors are locked when away from the address and especially at night time when such thefts tend to occur. Please also consider other crime prevention measures such as CCTV/Ring doorbell devices and hide any valuables away. Security lighting can also be a good deterrent. It is recommended hiding car keys away and keeping them in a signal blocking pouch are also good security measure rather other than typically leaving them for example on a hook by the front door. Although on occasions persons have been arrested and charged the problem remains ongoing. Please remain vigilant and report anything suspicious.
