Cannabis grow is discovered in Worcester property |
||
More than 50 cannabis plants were recovered after Worcester police executed a misuse of drugs warrant at an address in the Cherry Orchard area yesterday (Tuesday 9 September). Officers from across Worcester’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams (SNTs), led by Battenhall and Nunnery SNT, joined forces as they targeted a property in Cherry Street. The warrant was successfully executed following intelligence gathered around a suspected illegal cannabis grow at the address. The teams used force to enter the house and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. He has since been detained by Immigration Enforcement. They then gained entry to an outbuilding where a cannabis grow of more than 40 plants was discovered on the ground floor, which will now be destroyed. Evidence of a harvested crop was also found on the first floor. PC Phoebe Attwood of Battenhall and Nunnery SNT said: “Officers from Worcester and Warndon executed a warrant at an address in Cherry Street following intelligence around a suspected cannabis grow. “One man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis who has been handed to Immigration Enforcement and more than 50 plants were recovered. “Cannabis grows can be linked to organised crime groups, whose activities fuel further criminality, including modern slavery. Tackling these operations is vital to protecting our communities and keeping them safe from harm.” Anyone who believes there may be an illegal grow or criminal activity in their community is urged to report it to us via our website Report a crime | West Mercia Police. Always call 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers. It is 100% anonymous, they never ask your name, and they cannot trace your call or IP address. You can contact them online or by calling 0800 555 111. | ||
