Theft from Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

On Tuesday 9th September 2025 a theft from a vehicle occurred in Baldock Road Carpark Ware

offender(s) have gained access to a vehicle by drilling a hole into the side of the door. The vehicle was parked in Baldock Road Car park and at 0930am on the 9th September 2025, at approximately13:45 hours an alarm was heard and the vehicles was check to find it had been broken into.

Items stolen:

X2 Two grinders, X1 drill, X1 battery, charger, X1 jigsaw, X1 Makita drill and X2 tool bags

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
