Weekly Update from your local Bablake NPT
Dear Members
Here’s your weekly update from myself and the rest of the team.
What’s Been Happening I am pleased to say that no burglaries have been reported on Bablake.
In relation to vehicle crime, two vehicle interferences have been reported. One happened on GREYCOAT ROAD. This occurred between 4:00 pm Thursday 4th September to 9:00 am Friday 5th September. The second was on Monday 8th September at 00:50 am on BROWNS LANE where suspect has been seen on CCTV to go on driveway and try the vehicle door handle which was locked. A van was also targeted on Friday 5th, at approximately 8.45 pm on THURLESTONE ROAD. Offender(s) have damaged the rear doors but were disturbed and fled in a silver Volvo.
Date for the Diary We will be holding a PACT meeting at KERESLEY COMMUNITY LIBRARY on Thursday 25th September between 3:30 pm to 4:15 pm. PACT stands for Police and Communities Together. This is an opportunity for residents to meet your local policing team and Councillors, to discuss issues affecting your area and to influence the team’s priorities.
Anti-Social Behaviour Following calls from concerned residents of children at the old Allesley Hotel site, officers attended and three children were stopped. They were taken home to their parents and given very strong words of advice. Across our other wards, another two youngsters were taken home after trying to light fires in CASH’S PARK.
Children were also responsible for setting pallets alight behind a store on the ALVIS RETAIL PARK. This is of great concern, not only for the children’s safety but also the wider risk. We are carrying out a number of enquiries to identify those involved. Whilst the retail park is always a part of our regular patrols we have increased our presence due to this and reports of general anti-social behaviour at this location.
Given recent incidents, we would urge parents to have a discussion with your child about fire safety. Very worth mentioning whilst on this subject, West Midlands Fire Service offer programmes for young people to help educate about fire and the dangers, there is also a scenario based interactive learning centre and safety village called SAFESIDE which is in Birmingham.
To keep inquisitive minds busy, WMFS and ourselves run our respective Cadet programmes which help youngsters gain life experiences and build confidence.
For further information please go to: www.wmfs.net/our-services/youth-services westmidlands.police.uk/police-forces/west-midlands-police/areas/careers/wmp-jobs/west-midlands-police-cadets/ (please note our cadet scheme is currently paused, but we are still taking applications for our restart in January 2025).
In other News We received a number of calls of escaped goats on a grass verge by the A45. Officers traced the owner who was informed of their pets “houdini skills”! We hope from now on we only see this group of kids on the right side of the fence.
Until next week Stay safe everyone.
