You might’ve heard about a few incidents around town over the past few days, so we wanted to give you a quick update and provide a bit of reassurance.
On Friday afternoon, someone was reported being verbally abusive and threatening outside a house on Crompton Street then on Saturday evening, we were called to Chase Meadow after reports of a possible assault. Early Monday morning (8 September), we got a call from a petrol station on Coventry Road about several shoplifting incidents.
Thanks to all these reports, we were able to identify a suspect and arrest a 16-year-old boy from Warwick on suspicion of assault (ABH), carrying a knife or bladed article, theft, common assault, and robbery. He’s been bailed with strict conditions while enquiries continue.
Warwick Safer Neighbourhood Team Inspector Ed Box said: “We totally understand that these kinds of incidents can cause concern, and we want to reassure everyone that we’ve acted quickly and are doing everything we can to get to the bottom of it.
“Our officers have arrested a teenager in connection with these reports, and we’re still working hard to figure out exactly what happened. You might have seen us out and about around town — we’ve been doing patrols and chatting with residents to make sure people feel safe and supported.
“If you’ve seen anything or know something, please do speak to one of them or get in touch. We really rely on our community to let us know when something’s not right — and we’re listening.”
If you’ve got any information that could help, please report it online or call 101, quoting incident number 25 of 8 September. |
