Dedicated neighbourhood officer for every ward |
||
Dear Resident,
The West Midlands now have dedicated neighbourhood officers who work on specific ward areas across the region. These named officers are part of the government's recent ‘neighbourhood policing guarantee’ announcement, which saw the force successfully bid to the Home Office for 150 additional extra officers and 20 additional Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs). All these extra locally-based officers will play a crucial role in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour at a community level and we recognise how important this is to those who live, work and visit the area. These officers will focus on three key areas: Problem-solving – tackling persistent local issues through long-term solutions Targeted activity – proactive interventions to address crime and disorder Community engagement – building relationships and ensuring residents have a say in policing Every dedicated officer is supported by a wider team of neighbourhood officers however they are the local experts, with in-depth knowledge of their area’s challenges and the skills to proactively resolve problems. Our goal is to give our officers more time, support, and resources to focus on being neighbourhood officers, delivering proactive and visible policing in the areas that need it most. | ||
