What’s the Difference Between SNT and LPU Response Officers?

We often get asked about the different roles within your local policing team,

🔹 Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT)

SNT officers focus on long-term community safety and engagement. They work closely with residents, schools, and local organisations to address ongoing issues and build trust, (this page is for sharing some of the work with your local SNT do and information about events).

Examples of SNT work include:

Tackling anti-social behaviour in parks and public spaces

Attending community meetings and school visits

Working with housing providers to resolve neighbour disputes

Supporting vulnerable individuals through partnership work

🔹 Local Policing Unit (LPU) Response Officers

Response officers deal with incidents as they happen — often urgent and unpredictable. They’re the ones dispatched when you call 999.

Examples of LPU response work include:

Attending road traffic collisions

Responding to reports of burglary or domestic incidents

Arresting suspects at the scene of a crime

Providing immediate support in emergencies

Both teams are essential to keeping our communities safe — one through proactive engagement, the other through rapid response.
