When we move house or change telephone number, it's easy to miss which of our online accounts need updating. We want to make sure that you are still receiving the alerts relevant to where you live. If you use a work email address to receive the messages relating to around your home address, you might also want to consider changing it to your personal email address such as outlook or gmail, as if for any reason you leave that employment, you won't receive the messages sent to you. If you want to know what is happening in the area where you work, there would be nothing preventing you from creating an account using your work postcode and email address. Similarly, when using your Internet Service Provider email account @sky, @EE, @bt etc, if you change ISP, you will lose that email account and no longer receive messages until you register a new email address.
The Neighbourhood Alert system, whether you’re registered through Neighbourhood Watch or GMPs Bee In The Loop works by using your postcode to identify where you are registered to and allows you to receive alerts relevant to your local area from your Neighbourhood Watch scheme coordinators or local policing team.
To check your details are up to date and you are receiving alerts for your area go to your Neighbourhood Alert account and sign in to your account details page, here you can check and update your details. https://members.neighbourhoodalert.co.uk If you are struggling to add your address, particularly with new build properties, feel free to reply to me through the link at the bottom of this mail and I will do my best to help you sort it out.
While you’re signed you can also check which INFORMATION PROVIDERS you are receiving messages from. To make sure you receive news, alerts and appeals from your local policing team, select The Police as an INFORMATION PROVIDER. You do not need separate accounts for Neighbourhood Watch and Bee In The Loop as they both operate on the same Neighbourhood Alert messaging platform.

Here you will see the schemes nearest to your registered postcode and join them (subject to scheme coordinator discretion). If no scheme is available in your area, you may want to speak with your neighbours and create a scheme. More details on starting a new scheme can be found at https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/member-area/support-volunteers/how-start-neighbourhood-watch-scheme-step-step Encourage your family, friends and colleagues to sign up to Neighbourhood Alert, either through Neighbourhood Watch or Bee In The Loop, so that they can be kept up to date with what is happening in their area and receive news, alerts, information and crime prevention advice relevant to their local community. (Leaflets attached that you can share on Social Media channels and messaging groups) There are some exciting changes coming to the Neighbourhood Alert system in the future including alerts being sent via WhatsApp as well as to your email inbox, and also work is ongoing to develop an app, which will offer more features and improve communication. Neighbourhood Watch is an independent charity run by volunteers within your community. Many of our schemes work in partnership with local policing teams, local authorities and other community support organisations. The Royal College of Policing has recently said that they have observed a reduction in crime of over 15% in Neighbourhood Watch areas that are working with Neighbourhood Policing Teams. Together we can create safer and more secure communities. |
