Attempted Theft from Motor Vehicle Essex Mead

Dear Resident

Between 04 / 05 September a attempted theft from a vehicle occurred in Essex Mead

On the night of Thursday 4th October 2025, at an unknown time, an attempt was made to break into a vehicle, a Lexus RX, which was parked in a allocated parking space outside my home at Essex Mead.

Upon inspection,
    *    The front bumper had been broken.
    *    The wheel arch/bridge was damaged.
    *    The bottom section of the number plate was broken.
    *    Several loose screws from the bumper were found on the ground at the location of the incident.

The attempt to steal the vehicle was unsuccessful.

Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
