I wanted to provide you with an update regarding burglary, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good Afternoon All, September is a time of seasonal change from Summer to Autumn. The days are getting a bit shorter and the nights are getting a bit longer.
There are festive days this month with many celebrating with their finest properties on display. Do you know that even burglars do "Window Shopping?" looking into other people's homes and making notes of what's on display?? Advice to the Wise.... Please keep your windows and doors locked Change your automatic light switch to turn on the light during the early hours of darkness eg. 7:30pm (this makes the home look occupied) When you leave your home, remember to turn your radio on, lock your internal doors, if you have a side entrance to your property make sure the gate is locked and bolted. If you are going on holiday for a long weekend or a few days away, cancel your deliveries or deliver your goods to a safe place so that it's not left outside your doorstep? Ask a friend or neighbour to keep an eye on your property eg. don't leave your post hanging out of your letter box, make sure you have left some rubbish in your bins or garden waste, so that the burglar thinks you are home. This month is an important as we must all try and work together as one team, to help one another to keep the burglars out!!
A doorbell camera with an annual subscription is very useful as it keeps your film clips for you to use, in the future. As these film clips can be sent to the Police for identification purposes.
Most importantly be safe and take care of yourself. Enjoy.
Kind regards,
Naomi
While we will continue to pursue burglars in the area, there are steps you can do to help keep your property safe. Make sure that you: Double lock your door every time you leave the house If you can, move garden furniture or bins away from windows so that thieves cannot use them to gain access. Use laminated glass or security film on ground floor and accessible windows. Use a sash stop if you have sash windows to prevent people opening them enough to climb through. If your windows open outwards, use a key operated lock – check these are locked before leaving the house. Make sure all valuables are out of sight. Keep handbags and keys away from letterboxes or cat flaps. In the evening shut the curtains and leave lights on. Set your burglar alarm Lock your shed or garage Mark, register or record your valuables.
