Selly Oak – Op Skybridge Update. 

Good afternoon, 

Yesterday marked the 10th day since Operation Skybridge deployed to Selly Oak. 

The team, made up of both uniformed and plain clothed officers are deployed to areas within Birmingham to help tackle crime with targeted offences including Robbery, Burglary and Vehicle crime.

Utilising various pieces of equipment and tactics at our disposal, we relentlessly target those intent on causing harm to the community you live in. 

Since deploying to Selly Oak, the team have made several arrests and a number of stop and searches have been carried out. We are pleased to share with you the below figures:

Burglary is DOWN 84%

Robbery is DOWN 100&

Theft from motor vehicle is DOWN 50%

Theft of motor vehicle is currently unchanged. 

These figures, which compare the 10 days prior to deployment and the 10 days since, show that our current approach is having a real impact on crime in your area. 

However, there is still work to do. We know that there is an innocent victim attached to every crime committed. 

The team, in partnership with the local neighbourhood team, will work tirelessly to further reduce these offences and the number of people that find themselves victims of crime.
