August Ward Update |
||
PCSO Monthly Ward Update Welcome to your monthly Hangleton & Knoll Ward update by Beat PCSO Sharon Baker.
Ward Priorities : Speeding Vehicles, Parking on the Pavement Causing Obstructions for pedestrians and Speeding Scooters on pavements & Roads. (These priorities have not been updated since last month)
Ward Update Currently some key concerns in the area include: Rave at local shop Kids causing anti social behaviour on scooters Drug dealing
Police received a report of a possible rave at a shop in Hangleton. By the time Officers arrived there was a large crowd, including children and pedestrians/vehicles stopped in the road. The shop was asked to discontinue the music and the crowd were dispersed.
Police and Council are receiving reports of youngsters on electric scooters riding up and down the road and pavement, causing issues for both pedestrians and motorists. Please note that electric scooters are illegal to ride on the public highway and can be particularly dangerous if ridden by children.
Again reports of suspicious circumstances, believed to be drug dealing, are being received in a particular area of Hangleton. Please call in anything you see at the time so Police can respond where possible.
Community Meetings & Ward Days Myself and PCSO Sophie Hughes will be taking part in the Brighton & Hove City Council Tenant Celebration Day on Saturday 13 September between 10am – 4pm at the Hangleton Community Centre, 14 Harmsworth Crescent, Hangleton. BN3 8BW. We will be having a stall and welcome any engagement/questions, or just a friendly chat, so please come along and see us.
My next ward day is set for the 15th October 2025, where I will be in the community talking with local businesses, residents and patrolling the area. I aim to be in my office at St Richards Church Hall, Egmont Road at around 11:30hrs – 12:30hrs should anyone wish to drop in for a chat. Alternatively, if you wish to make an appointment to see me in private, please do not hesitate to contact me on sharon.baker@sussex.police.uk. Please note this email address is not for reporting crimes/asb, these should be reported in the usual way, either 101 non emergency, or 999 in an emergency.
Incidents of note / Any other Business We have again had a variety of reports for our area, some of which include: - St Georges flag painted on a roundabout, shouting in the street, confused elderly male, issues with loud music, neighbour problems, a report of taxi passengers not paying the fare, amongst other things. Crime Prevention Advice I would still like to remind residents to keep valuables out of sight and doors and windows kept shut and locked. Keep all keys away from view and not hanging on hooks near the front or back doors, these are easily grabbed if the property is broken into. Leave them, along with other valuables, in a secure location not visible to anyone wishing to deprive you of them. Install Ring Doorbells/CCTV, Security Lights, locks etc. Burglar Alarm boxes on the front of the property can also be a deterrent.
The crime figures for August have remained pretty static, but burglaries are up, hence me repeating the crime prevention advice on this subject, with 5 reported in our area. Please report any suspicious behaviour to the Police and if you can provide us with any cctv footage that would be really helpful.
