Following on from the updates many of us have received from our phone providers, we would like to remind our residents that there will be public testing for the Emergency Alert system on Sunday 7th September 2025 at 1500. The test alert will be sent to all compatible 4G and 5G mobile phones and compatible tablets across the UK. This means most people will receive a test message, accompanied by a loud siren-like sound and vibration that will last for about 10 seconds. Even if your phone is on silent you will still receive the alert. If you do not want the alert to sound you will have to turn your phone off. If there is a genuine reason for not wanting the alert to be available on your phone ie domestic situations/emergency phones, you can remove the option of the alert via the settings option within your phone. However, this is an important test carried out by the Government. Since the last test in April 2023 the alert has been used in real time emergencies 5 times, therefore it is strongly recommended that everyone keeps the alert option on their phone. | ||
