As usual first thing I have to do read thorough all the crime was taken place in around our ward, while I was off. Two crime in particularly did frustrated me while I was reading. "The First one": Caller introduce himself/herself without name impersonating Metropolitan Police to get the personal information from you. "The Second one": It is our responsibility to secure our property against theft of theft from vehicle crime.
*PLEASE REMEMBER: Scams Do Not Discriminate*, Scams target people of all ages, backgrounds and income levels. The Metropolitan Specialist Crime Team has seen the devastating effects this type of crime can have on people and their families. One of the best ways to take steps to prevent yourself from being caught out in the first place. Metropolitan police or a Bank never calls you and ask about your bank details or about your Pin, even your bank cart to withdraw money.
*How to secure your van and prevent tool theft* To protect your van from thieves, you should combine several security measures including physical deterrents like deadlocks, steering wheel locks, and GPS trackers, alongside tactical parking in well-lit areas, and ensuring your van is always locked and valuables are hidden.
Physical Security Devices • High-Security Locks: Install deadlocks or slam locks to all doors, which are much harder to pick than standard locks. • Steering Wheel Lock: An old-fashioned steering wheel lock is a visible deterrent and a highly effective physical barrier to theft. • GPS Tracker: A GPS tracker allows you to locate and recover your van if it is stolen. • OBD Port Protector: An OBD port protector prevents thieves from accessing your van's system and starting it. • Full Bulkhead: Fitting a full bulkhead separates the cab from the load area, providing a secure barrier to your tools and cargo. • Security Cages and Lockboxes: Use lockable tool safes or security cages inside the van to keep high-value tools and equipment secure. Tactical Parking & Presence • Well-Lit Areas: Park in brightly lit areas to deter opportunistic thieves. • Secure Garages: Store your van in a secure garage overnight whenever possible. • CCTV Proximity: Parking in an area with CCTV coverage can serve as a deterrent. • Strategic Parking: Position the van's main access point tight to a wall to make it harder for thieves to get to the back doors. Basic Security Practices • Always Lock Your Van: Never leave your van unlocked, even for short periods. • Hide Valuables: Keep all tools and valuables out of sight; never leave them on display. • Don't Leave the Van Running: Never leave your van running unattended. • Protect Your Keys: Keep your van keys safe and be aware of methods like key cloning. • Check Electronic Locking: Double-check your electronic locking system to ensure signals aren't being jammed.
