Theft of money from an elderly gentleman, Chorley market

Good Morning,

We have been made aware of an elderly gentleman being targeted for money on Chorley market.

The incident occurred on 30/08/2025 at 11:20am. 

Our 89 year old victim was approached inside the market by an unknown male asking if he had change for a £5 note.

Our victim helped with this request and carried on shopping. When paying for his shopping, he realised that £160 had been stolen from his wallet.

Did you see anyone acting suspiciously?

To the person who has committed this offence, you are the lowest of the lows, you have targeted a kind hearted man going about his daily business. 

Cctv enquiries are ongoing and once you are identified you will be arrested. 

Please keep your wallets and purses safe, report anyone acting suspiciously and only carry essential money.
