Oil Theft

Over the last week, Police have received several reports of oil thefts in the and around the city centre. While some incidents may not yet have been reported officially, we would like to stress the importance of reporting any such thefts directly to the Police. you can report incidents by calling 101 for none emergency  999 for emergency if the incident is taking place or by using the online reporting service on the North Yorkshire Police website.

Although used oil may appear to be waste, it does hold value. Many businesses arrange for licensed companies to collect and dispose of or reuse the oil safely. Criminals are aware of this value, and oil theft has become a significant issue. By reporting thefts, you help us take action and prevent further crime.

Any information relating to who may be involved or vehicle registrations involved are welcomed by the Police to help us act and speak to individuals involved.
