Live Facial Recognition operation in Whitechapel

Dear Resident, 

Yesterday, Police Officers from across Tower Hamlets were involved in a Live Facial Recognition deployment on Whitechapel Road. The operation led by PS Al Aracena Fuentes and PS Dave Haynes from the Tower Hamlets Taskforce and their teams, with the assistance of officers from Whitechapel, Shadwell, St Katharine’s & Wapping, Spitalfields and Banglatown SNTs and the Town Centre Team.

Results included seven individuals, who were wanted by police, being arrested for offences including indecent exposure, cultivation of cannabis, common assault and driving whilst disqualified. Another eight individuals, who are Registered Sex Offenders, were also stopped by officers to make sure they were adhering to their conditions.
