A few highlights from your City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team’s work in the last week:-

On 02/09/25 we arrested a prolific Thief/Burglar hiding in a under-stairs cupboard, this time for Cycle Theft. We recovered the Cycle and he was charged/remanded with cycle theft and received a Community Order and fines at Court the next day. He was also arrested in the City Centre last Friday (29th August) and charged with 3 X Cycle thefts which has yet to be heard at Court. We are looking to apply for a Criminal Behaviour Order in the future in relation to this individual.

On 03/09/25 we arrested another prolific thief for 3 X Cycle theft, charging and remanding him with 2 of those offences. I am pleased to say he received a total of 32 weeks imprisonment and fines the next day at /Court.

Last Friday night evening (29/08) we arrested a prolific travelling shop thief for 2 high value Thefts (1 in York, 1 in Sheffield), a breach of court bail conditions as well as failing to appear at Court. He was charged/remanded receiving 16 weeks imprisonment at Court on Saturday morning.

I have just been to Court this morning for a trial against a prolific offender we charged last year with breaking into 2 X BMW's in a underground car park on the outskirts of the City Centre and stealing Steering Wheels, one of which was worth £2,500. It has taken a long time and a lot of work to get this to Court, so hoping for a positive result.
