I wanted to provide you an update regarding robbery, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Dear Preston Residents,
We’re pleased to share an update on robbery offences in Preston. Over the past three years, the overall trend shows that robbery numbers remain relatively low, with only a handful of offences recorded each month compared to neighbouring areas. Comparing the last 12 months with the current year to date, robbery offences have fallen 35%. Looking further back, compared with two years ago, robbery is now down by nearly 40%. While there are still occasional peaks during the year, the overall trend is moving in the right direction.
Preston Safer Neighbourhood Team is continuing visible patrols and proactive operations, focusing on areas where offences are more likely to occur. These steps, together with your vigilance and cooperation, are making a real difference in keeping our streets safe.
We want to thank you for playing your part whether by staying aware of your surroundings, looking out for neighbours, or promptly reporting anything suspicious. Working together, we are building a safer and more resilient Preston.
 We will continue to tackle robbery in your local area. While we are investigating and arresting those responsible, please consider following the below advice to keep yourself and your property safe: Do not leave your phone, tablet or other digital goods unattended, out of sight or on a table. Be aware of your surroundings and only use your phone when it is safe to do so. Put your phone away when you have finished using it. Secure your phone by choosing a strong pin or password Keep a note of your IMEU number (to access, type *#06# on your phone keypad) Plan your route, especially if you are going somewhere you have not been before. Keep to busy, well-lit streets and walkways. Move with purpose and appear confident.
