Appeal following car thefts and burglaries |
||
We are appealing for information after receiving a number of reports of car thefts, burglaries and attempted burglaries in the Rocester area recently.
On Friday (29 August) officers were alerted to four reports of suspicious activity, the first one at around 3.10am.
Residents reported seeing three masked men trying car door handles on Riversfield Drive before making off and jumping fences along Abbey Close. The suspects were wearing balaclavas and tracksuits with hoods.
Then at 6am, similar reports came in to us after two Mercedes A class vehicles, one white and one grey, were stolen with keys from a driveway nearby.
At 7.10am a resident reported that they had reviewed CCTV footage of their property and saw three masked men enter a conservatory before being spooked. We believe the suspects were targeting a BMW vehicle on a driveway, but were unsuccessful.
Officers then received a call at 7.40am to Woodseat Grove, where a burglary was reported. An untidy search had been carried out and an inactive car key, as well as a handbag, had been stolen. A purse from the bag was recovered nearby.
Officers are carrying out inquiries locally and are reviewing CCTV and doorbell footage.
We are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of 29 August. Anyone who has any relevant information or footage, including any dashcam material, should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 052 of 29 August.
To report anonymously, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
