👋 Hello Everyone,Welcome to our coordinators’ update! The aim is to get an update out to you once a quarter initially and more often if you like it! We’ll keep things short, snappy, and useful – with good news from across the Force area, resources, and a look ahead at what’s coming up. Thank you for everything you do to keep your communities safe, connected, and resilient. Until next time, happy reading! Steph
🏆 Volunteer Recognition AwardsWe’re excited to announce that the Volunteer Recognition Awards winners will be revealed this September! These awards celebrate the dedication and impact of our Neighbourhood Watch volunteers across Devon & Cornwall.
➡️ Do you have a good news story to share? Send it in to steph.good@ourwtach.org.uk and we’ll feature it next time
🔄 Revival RoundupAcross the region, Neighbourhood Watch schemes are being revived and updated. In St Erth, five new schemes have been set up to cover the whole village. Following a presentation to Torbay Community Partnership Leads, old signs have been replaced, giving schemes a fresh new look. And in August, Steph even appeared on ITV Southwest to talk about the importance of Neighbourhood Watch and how it’s making a difference in local communities. 👉 You can watch the TV piece here from 10m 33sec in
🚶 Out and About with StephOur Community Project Manager, Steph, has been busy out in the community this summer – from sponsoring and presenting at the Camborne Community Awards, to manning the stand at Truro Pride alongside D&C Police, to leaflet dropping with the Safer Penzance team, and presenting Neighbourhood Watch to community builders and partners in Torbay. If you have an event coming up or need a hand raising awareness locally, let us know – we’ll do what we can to support!
📚 Resource HighlightDid you know the Neighbourhood Watch Knowledge Hub has free leaflets, posters, and guides you can use locally? ✨ This month we recommend: “Top Tips on Spotting Scams” – ideal for sharing at coffee mornings or via WhatsApp groups.
đź’¸ Volunteer DiscountsAs a Neighbourhood Watch volunteer, you are entitled to discounts through the Charity Workers Discount organisation.
