Crime appeals.

Hello all.

In my previous post I mentioned the theft of a pushbike from outside of All Saint's Church Lydd on Sunday 31st August at 13:00.

I am appealing to anyone who saw a black moped type motorcycle similar to that of a fast food delivery type that was being ridden by two persons who were wearing balaclavas and not wearing helmets around Lydd. This moped was black or dark in colour and didn't have a rear number plate.

The moped was last seen in Dennes Lane heading towards Old Romney at approximately 13:30.

Even if you've seen this moped on other occasions please contact me.

I am vaguely aware of other pushbikes that have been stolen form the Lydd area, if you haven't already reported this via the Kent Police website online reporting please do so and also email me so that I'm aware as these thefts could be connected.

There have been a couple of thefts from vehicles in New Romney recently, one of which I am reviewing CCTV for.

I believe that there was another whereby the owner of the vehicle had posted it on Facebook but doesn't appear to have been reported to us officially, this was opposite the parade of shops by the Co-op Littlestone Road, if anyone knows about this or you are the vehicle's owner please contact me.

Just as a polite reminder, please lock your vehicles even if you are going to be away from them for a short amount of time, don't make it easy for them!

This evening (04/09/2025) at approximately 21:50 we received a report of an international airliner having had a Laser shone at it as it was passing over Lydd towards Heathrow. It goes without saying how extremely dangerous this was and potentially catastrophic this could have been so if anyone saw a laser being shone at around that time or knows of someone who points their laser pens into the sky after dark please let me know. It was reported to be generally over Lydd so not necessarily Lydd town itself but could have been.

I still have a bunch of keys that were handed into Lydd police station a little while ago around the 7th August which were found near to the Dolphin pub by The Rype in Lydd and this will be the last post about them before they are responsibly disposed of.
