Street Drinking - Hinckley Road Shops |
||
Good Afternoon Residents,
For quite some time there has been an issue whereby groups of people are sitting on the benches outside the shops on Hinckley Road, consuming alcohol, behaving in an anti-social manner with how loud they can be, as well as approaching members of public who are either passing through or visiting the shops here. This is not only affecting businesses but members of public. I am aware this has been reported to the police on several occasions.
I am currently trying to get the council to do something with the benches outside, ideally I would like them removed all together but realistically I don't think this will happen. They have suggested making the benches smaller, so large groups from congregating outside these shops. Previously there had been a PSPO in place in this location, a PSPO is a Public Spaces Protection Order. With this in place, we as your local neighbourhood policing team could seize an alcohol they have, only if they are behaving in an anti-social manner. At the moment we are trying to get this PSPO back in place, but we need your help!
If you have ever walked along this section of shops on Hinckley Road or have used any of the shops here and have experienced any issues involving drunk groups at this location, please could you spare 5 minutes or more to provide what your experiences have been like and how it has affected you? I am hoping that the more people who can do this, the more it may add weight to getting a PSPO back in place along here.
I look forward to hear your responses.
Kind Regards
PCSO Sarah Baker 6617 Fosse Ward Hinckley Road Police Station
