On the 28th of August a local farmer reported the theft of 59 sheep plus their lambs from a field on the outskirts of Todmorden. The theft is believed to have happened at some point over the previous two or three weeks as the location is so remote that regular visits are unable to be made. The nature of such a theft has a devastating impact on the farmer concerned with the loss running into the tens of thousands. The sheep are all marked both with tags in their ears and in other areas that are identifiable.
