Six Further Premise Closure Orders Obtained Following Significant Haul of Illicit Tobacco and Illegal Vapes Seized in East Leeds |

Six further retail premises have been issued with Premise Closure Orders, following the multi-agency day of action held in East Leeds on Monday 18th August 2025. The Burmantofts and Richmond Hill Neighbourhood Policing Team worked alongside West Yorkshire Trading Standards and Leeds City Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team (LASBT) during the day of action whereby a total of eight retail premises were visited, resulting in a significant haul of illicit tobacco, illegal vapes and counterfeit goods being seized and one closure order was granted the following day at Kirklees Magistrates Court, with a further court date set. You can access and read the full previous news release at: Significant Haul of Illicit Tobacco and Illegal Vapes Seized In East Leeds | West Yorkshire Police On Tuesday 26th August 2025, Kirklees Magistrates Court issued a further six premise Closure Orders pursuant to section 80 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. The court was satisfied that the use of the premises has resulted, or (if the order is not made) is likely to result, in criminal behaviour on the premises, and serious nuisance to members of the public and the making of this order was necessary to prevent the occurrence of such disorder or nuisance for the period set out in each order made. The below retail premise was made subject to a six-week premise closure order, which is set to end at 20:00 hours on the 7th October 2025: 63 Easy Road (shop trading as “Easy Road Off Licence”), Leeds LS9 8QS The below retail premises were made subject to a four-week premise closure order, which are set to end between 16:00 hours and 20:00 hours on the 23rd September 2025: 68-272 York Road (shop trading as “Best One Shop”) Leeds LS9 9DN 1 Shaftesbury Parade (shop trading as “Harehills Lane Corner Store”), Harehills Lane, Leeds LS9 6PJ Unit 1, Dock Green Court, Stanley Road (shop trading as “Leelo Mini Market”) Leeds LS9 7BF 1-2 Osmondthorpe Cottages, Osmondthorpe Lane (shop trading as “Osmondthorpe Convenience Store”), Leeds LS9 9EQ 82-84 Osmondthorpe Lane (shop trading as “Rani Superstore”) Leeds LS9 9EF The premises are closed to all persons and persons are prohibited from remaining, returning or entering the premises until the order has ended, save for any conditions set out in the order. Any person entering the premises without the permission of Leeds City Council or the Magistrates Court commits an offence and can be arrested. Councillor Mary Harland, Leeds City Council’s executive member for communities, customer service and community safety, said: “This is a great result for our teams working to combat anti-social behaviour and criminality. We will keep working together with West Yorkshire Police to make sure that our communities are safe and to show that this use of premises will not be tolerated.” Sergeant Bradley, lead for Burmantofts and Richmond Hill said: “West Yorkshire Police and partners will continue to work collaboratively to tackle criminality within local communities and will utilise all powers available at our disposal to prevent offending and reassure the public that action is and will be taken. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank Leeds City Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team, for securing these orders and hope it sends out a clear message that the Police, Partner Agencies and the communities of East Leeds will not tolerate this type of criminality and hope that this acts as a deterrent for anyone considering being involved in such criminality”. | ||
