Due to an increase in accidents with Deer on the Chase please see the below safety message.

Cannock Chase is home to a thriving population of wild deer—including fallow, red, and muntjac species—that roam freely across the landscape. While spotting them can be magical, there are serious safety risks to be aware of:

Road Safety Risks

Over 150 deer-related traffic accidents occur annually on Cannock Chase and surrounding roads.

Many deer are not killed instantly, leading to suffering and further hazards.

Drive cautiously, especially during dawn, dusk, and poor weather conditions.

If you hit a deer or see one injured:

Call 999 if it’s alive or causing a hazard.
Call 101 if it’s dead or injured off the road2.
