PARCEL THEFT CRIME PREVENTION ADVICE

RE: Parcel Theft Awareness and Crime Prevention

Dear Residents,

As your local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO), I am writing to raise awareness regarding a recent increase in parcel thefts in residential buildings, particularly from shared entryways and communal mail areas.

We have received reports of parcels being stolen shortly after delivery, often from unsecured lobbies or hallways. These incidents are typically opportunistic, with offenders entering buildings when access is not properly restricted.

We urge you to consider the following preventative measures:

Do not allow tailgating: Only allow access to people you know or expect.

Secure entrance doors at all times. Report any faulty locks to your building management immediately.

Track your deliveries. Be present or have a trusted neighbour accept parcels on your behalf when possible.

Consider using parcel lockers, click & collect, or alternative secure delivery options.

Report suspicious activity to police via 101 (non-emergency) or 999 (in case of a crime in progress).
