Dear Resident
The summer is always a busy time of year for our policing teams, especially the month of August.
Do you follow our local Facebook pages?
Whether you're looking for the latest news or just want to see what your local officers have been up to — we’ve got you covered.
Our page is open to everyone in the community, and we’d love to see you there!@PolicingSouthCambridgeshire
Here are some of our highlights over the last month:
Attended Cambridgeshire County Show to speak to residents about concerns and learn about the police equipment. Recovered a stolen vehicle and a caravan used in crime whilst assisting our Criminal Investigations Bureau with ongoing enquiries in Cottenham, Seized a moped on the A14 near Madingley after it was spotted going the wrong way alongside the outside lane. It turned out to not have a valid MOT or insurance! Our cadets also volunteered at the Ashwell and Morden show by assisting visitors and helping with parking. | |
Now time for some recent court results!
Our officers work tirelessly to bring offenders before the courts and ensure justice is served. Here’s a few from this past month, who are now behind bars.
A drink driver who was more than four times the limit has been disqualified for 18 months. Read more here.
A man who harassed a woman after their relationship ended has been sent to prison. Read the full story here.
A shoplifter who carried out 12 thefts across Cambridge and Histon has been jailed. Read more here.
A mother who was caught drink driving with a baby in the car has been disqualified for three years. Read more here.
Tips and tricks:
Some of the main priorities of our South Cambridgeshire Neighbourhood team are anti-social behaviour, anti-social driving and drug misuse.
We have recently been out responding to your concerns, but here are a few of the signs to look out for that may indicate someone is involved in drug dealing:
1.Repeatedly going missing from school or home and being found in other areas 2.Having money, new clothes or electronic devices and they can't explain how they paid for them 3.Getting high numbers of texts or phone calls, being secretive about who they're speaking to 4.Decline in school or work performance 5.Significant changes in emotional or physical well-being
If you believe you know someone who is involved in drug dealing, report it on our website and find more advice here. Antisocial use of a vehicle, such as street racing, street cruising or off-road use is more than a matter of noise pollution, it can have a wider impact on a neighbourhood or community. For more advice head to our website.
This is just some of what we have been up to this month, we are always working to protect the public and being visible and approachable in the community.
If you would like to share any concerns, why not pop along to one of our community events?
We regularly host a ‘Coffee with a Cop’ and ‘Police Surgeries’ to understand the issues that are impacting you. For more updates on our next event, head to our website. If you can’t make it to chat to us in person, report it online.
Kind Regards,
Annabelle Mullee |
