Knowle Weekly Update

Hello,

This week we made an appearance at the Knowle Donkey Sanctuary for their “Hee-Haw Fest” and had a great time. We were made to feel very welcome as we were speaking to residents, stall holders and the volunteers of the Sanctuary. We can’t wait for the next one!

What crime has happened in the last 9 Days?

  • Burglary – 23/08 – Bakers Lane
    • Rear door of canal boat smashed, messy search, gold and small items stolen.
  • Theft of motor vehicle – 27/08 – Arden Vale Road
    • Delivery driver left vehicle unattended whilst making a delivery with engine running. Returning from delivery 1 minute later, vehicle had been stolen.
  •

    Crime prevention advice:

This week we are seeing a lot of opportunistic crimes rather than thought out, planned ones. If you have a delivery at your door, please remind the driver to lock their vehicle everytime as it is becoming more and more prevalent that their vehicles are being taken. It only takes a few seconds for someone to jump in and drive away.

Similarly, we have noticed on our patrols a lot of cars being left unlocked and open on the driveway whilst you pop back into the house to get something. With more and more offenders around waiting for an opportunity like this, I would recommend locking you car – even for the quick dash back inside the house. It is better to take the extra few seconds of closing and locking the door than have the vehicle stolen off your driveway.

CCTV is a really useful tool for us to use in investigations as it allows us to see the offence happening, any offenders and what they are wearing or a direction of travel in their escape. If you haven’t already, sign up to our CCTV registry to receive alerts when your footage may help us with incidents in your area - CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police

What are we up to next week?

  • Speedwatch in Chadwick End
  • Foot Patrols around Knowle in key areas
