VAWG - Be Behaviour Aware

Resident

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) has no place in our communities. Kent Police is committed to tackling this issue head-on and ensuring that everyone - especially women and girls - can feel safe where they live, work, and socialise.

Kent Police’s approach focuses on five key areas:

- Holding offenders to account using all available powers

- Supporting victims with trauma-informed services

- Keeping communities safe through visible policing and prevention

- Strengthening the system with effective partnerships

- Improving internal culture to ensure high standards of integrity and trust

Some of the specific actions being taken include:

- Investing in services for victims of domestic abuse, stalking, and sexual violence

- Engaging directly with women and girls to understand their concerns

- Raising awareness about healthy relationships and harmful behaviours

- Targeting perpetrators of modern slavery, harassment, and exploitation

- Maintaining a visible police presence in hotspot areas

Kent Police is also working closely with schools, youth services, and community groups to educate young people and prevent future harm.

If you or someone you know is affected by any form of abuse or violence, please don’t stay silent. Help is available, and your voice matters.

Need support or want to report something?

Visit www.kent.police.uk/VAWG or call 101 (or 999 in an emergency).

Together, we can build a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and heard.
